The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment

Oil on Canvas [1m x 3m]

Louise Pragnell’s three metre long painting of the officers of the Household Cavalry, was unveiled in 2010 by HRH The Princess Royal at their regimental headquarters in Knightsbridge.
Featuring 25 officers serving with the Household Cavalry, it is a modern version of an original painting from 1857 that hangs in the Officers’ Mess.  Louise’s portrait displays the contemporary face of a long-established regiment.  Notable differences between the original and Louise’s version are the inclusion of two female officers, and officers from Ghana and Zimbabwe, as well as a Sikh and Hindu of Indian decent.
Louise was the first woman to be awarded such a commission.
